PTA denies its role in BB service suspension

Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has denied that it directed mobile service providers to discontinue Blackberry Services to foreign diplomats.

In response to a story carried in a section of media regarding the suspension of Blackberry services to foreign missions, it has shown its indifference whatever the mobile service providers were saying.

Operators have been advised to continue providing Blackberry Services to the users, an official PTA statement mentioned.

Cellular operators have said that PTA decided to withdraw its decision to cut the telephony services to foreign diplomats on BB.

“It has issued a letter to us a day earlier and asked to stop services to diplomats’ officials forthwith but they directed us to resume the services to them on the next day, an official of the mobile phone operator said on the condition of anonymity.
